History of Hopkins Minnesota

The first people settled in Hopkins in 1852 but the beginnings of the town did not start until 1887 with the establishment of the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company, which served to employ most of the people in the town. By 1893, 41 residents submitted a petition to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners that they are allowed to incorporate as the village of West Minneapolis. At the time, the population of the settlement comprised of 1,105 people. In 1928, the name was changed to Hopkins in honor of Harley H. Hopkins, one of the founders and the settlement’s first postmaster. The village adopted its City charter on December 2, 1947 to officially become the City of Hopkins.

Pub 819 – this is a nice pub manned by friendly and accommodating staff. The red wine burger is cooked perfectly and came with mushrooms and melted brie cheese. They have a good selection of beers to choose from and is a nice place to relax and talk the night away.

Samba Taste of Brazil — They offer very friendly service and amazing food. Super nice and romantic space conveniently located in the center of the city and serves the best Brazilian cuisine. Do check out the Mariscos with a side order of stuffed cheese breads. The paella rice is absolutely excellent. They offer local craft and Brazilian beer.

Pizza Luce – Vegan pizza is completely amazing. The Bear pizza was also pretty good and came with a thin crust. Service is fast and efficient. Great place to hangout.
