History of Apple Valley

The original name of Apple Valley was Lebanon Township.  It was founded in 1969 by a real estate mogul by the name of Oris Thompson.  He studied where in the Twin Cities will there be an area where good and consistent growth can be expected. He was assisted by a company from Apple Valley California, hence the name.  The area that was decided upon was one and a half mile from County Road 42 and Cedar Avenue.

Restaurants & Nightlife

Vivo Kitchen Restaurant – considered the best restaurant in the city according to Trip Advisor, they offer a good whiskey and wine selection as well as pizzas and flat breads.  There is a nice patio section for alfresco dining. The wedge salad with Parmesan shrimp is quite fabulous.  Service is friendly and accommodating.

Taste of Thaiyai Restaurant – Excellent Thai meals that is easy on the pocket. Do try the Thai iced tea as well as the veggie egg rolls. The Rad Na with mock duck is absolutely fabulous.

Osaka Seafood Steakhouse Restaurant – Don’t let its strip mall location prevent you from trying out this gem of a restaurant. Food and service is excellent. Steak and salmon dinner or with shrimp is delightful.  The sushi is also quite fabulous as well. Try the tempura roll and the spicy snow crab roll.
